I'm in the market for a gun safe and heard that the Cabela's branded Liberty safes go on sale every single fall. Anyone ever heard that before or know if there's any truth to it?
The Kearney, NE store just had them on sale but the sale ended 8/29.

I'm looking at the ad and that's the sale I'm hoping for in Fort Worth. Maybe I can call and ask? Can't hurt.

Did you hear the one about the poor aggie........................................just kidding.
Last year I got one of those safes for a really good deal at the Ft. Worth store and those people over there are the best. Talk to Larry Myrick if possible and he will take care of you. He is a cowboy turned salesman and says what he means and means what he says. That whole department is wonderful in my opinion and if you run into Angelo or Jenson they will also treat you like family. You'll like the Liberty safes. They also can recommend a couple people who deliver and install the safes. Good luck......chs
ps. buy the "Cabelas" Liberty safe and not one of the cheaper brands. Last year while there I overheard a lady who had a problem with one of the cheaper safes (lock malfunction)and had to hire a lock smith to break into the safe because the manufacturer could not be reached on the phone. Cabelas could not get them on the phone so they hired the lock smith for her! I don't want to mention the name of the cheap brand but customer service is more important in a safe that most people realize. If your lock malfunctions two days before a hunting trip you really want to get someone out to your home pronto.

Yeah, poor aggies. Did you hear we won't have cold water on the sidelines this year? The guy who knew how to make ice died.
I'm definitely getting the Liberty (the smallest one with 75 minute fire rating and gloss finish). Just like to save a few bucks. I'm gonna have it forever so dont want to get one that costs less than some of my firearms.
Did you move yours by yourself? If I was going with one of the larger 2 of the three would be no question. For some reason though think I can move the small one with a couple buddies.

That safe is over 700 lbs. empty. The Gold series or the "President" in the 35 cubic ft. is over 900 lbs. Do yourself a favor and use one of the recommended delivery guys. They sub-contract it from Cabelas and will use an electric dolly to manaver it over the thresholds. If you have a post tension slab you always run the risk of breaking a cable when installing the bolts. They do this as part of the delivery and installation. The good thing is that they have insurance and if a cable is broken, they pay to have it repaired. It's the best $ 175.00 you will ever spend.
If you put it in the garage then don't forget to get a golden rod or some type of moisture control device. Please take my advice about bolting it to the slab. If you and two buddies can move it into your house then three other guys can move it out! Placing 4 3/4" bolts into you slab will prevent even a truck with a chain looped around the safe from jerking it free. If they try it you will see the bumper with the chain attached in your yard. Good luck and talk to Larry Myrick..........................chs

Very bummed out. The Fort Worth store won't have the liberty safe sale like they had in Kearney until December. Can't wait that long so guess I will have to pay full price.

Sorry to bring this back up...what about the Cabela's branded "classic" or "maximum security safes"
Supposedly they are made by Champion safes and offer a similar warranty to the Liberty safes. Finish inside is nicer on a Liberty, but price is very good on the Champion safe. Still has a lot of bolts and seems w/ 45 minutes of fire is more than I will probably need in a big city.

I think in an ad this sale was on sale for maybe even 699. Should have got it then.
Anyone pick up one of these recently?
