Nosler Partition vs Barnes X bullets

Hi Everyone,
Any opinions on nosler partitions vs barnes x style bullets? Never tried the barnes, have been using the partitions for 2 hunting seasons now. Very impressed with their performance compared to a standard spitzer style bullet. Thanks.

My vote goes to the barnes tsx hands down. Don't get me wrong I used the partition bullets for about 8 years and they always performed good. But the tsx's are usually more accurate (in my guns) and they PENETRATE like no other. I have shot a lot of elk with partitions and never lost any except for one. Most dropped either on the spot or ran about 80-100 yards. I started using barnes bullets 3 years ago and I have shot 3 bull elk and all 3 dropped without moving a single step. Coincidence? Maybe, but all of the barnes 270 140 gr bullets penitrated clear through. Both are excellent bullets but i like the barnes x. The new mrx should be even better.

I have used both for years depending on the gun and the application (animal I'm hunting) I prefer the new Barnes Triple Shock with the gas chekck rings as they seem to fould the barrel less and fly better for long shots.
For my young daughter going after black bear with her 270, I usually use noslers partitions in 160grain.
I think either choice will be good and the price is fairly comparable to each other. My recommendation is to see what flies best from your gun and shoot those.

Thanks for the input guys, my son and I are heading N next fall for moose/elk, if we have time we'll look for a ram, but realistically we hope to get a moose and maybe catch some grayling.
I'll pick up a box of the new barnes and try them over the summer. We'll be taking 300's with 180 gr, and our iron sights blr 30'06. Actually thinking I'll load up some 220 gr for the '06.
Really looking forward to it. Last time I went on a hunting adventure I came home and proposed, that was nearly 20 yrs ago. Now our son's ready for big game, and I'm not sure which of us is more excited about it.

Remember when you select the bullets for your hunt that the barnes tsx's work better the faster they fly. If it were me I would use a 180 gr bullet in your 300 and maybe even a 168 or 180 gr for your 30-06. I use 140 gr in my 270wsm for elk and I have never had a problem yet. If your going for alaska moose then you might stick with 180's. Barnes recomends that if you usualy use a certain bullet weight in conventional bullets then you should use the next step down in the x bullet lineup. The x bullets don't seem to work as well when the speeds start to slow down. 180 TSX's would be perfect for moose. Good luck on your hunt!
