So far we've had only one morning of duck hunting. Came away with nothing. A few days of quail hunting got us quite a few quail, one mallard hen, almost a pheasant and a dead cow. If nothing else, it's been interesting.

Season is closed right now, set to open Nov 7. But in the short early season I averaged 4 duck / outing.

A long weekend in Canada netted 17 snows, 11 Canadas, and 16 ducks mostly mallards and pintails with a handful of gadwalls. We were a bit early so the snow count is kind of low. Early goose season put 9 Canadas in the freezer. Dinner Friday night will take care of a good portion of the geese, 16 people can put a pretty good dent in even larger amounts of birds.

The season hasn't opened yet here. That happens on 21 November.

Just three mallards, one woody and a gadwall.....but three timber doodles rounded out the day.....I think most if not all the teals have left our area.

Well we've been hearing there's a lull in the Boise area. We went out Saturday morning on the snake and came away skunked, simply no bird traffic, but did find some great potential blinds. We went out this morning despite our better judgement to a blind that has been pretty good to us. Between the "lull" and the beautiful weather, we figured another fruitless day. We got to the boat launch and we were the only ones there. Another bad sign as more boats and hunters tend to get the birds moving. We pretty much hunt as a team and lose track of who shot what, but on this "shoulda been skunked" day, the three of us came away with 4 mallard hens, 2 mallard drakes, 1 teal drake, 2 teal hens, 1 widgeon drake and 1 widgeon hen. Unfortunately, we wound up with a coot, too.
