Default Encore hinge pins

Anybody tried the adjustable hinge pin or the locker pin for T/C encore? Also was looking at the Dead Center 195 grain duplex bullets at E.A. Brown website. Any thoughts or experiences?

I'm using a "locker pin" in my encore muzzleloader. The benefit is slight, but when coupled with other mods they all add up. I went to the range on saturday and shot a 2 1/2" group at 200yds. When installing the pin you must relieve the insides of the forearm so that it does not touch. Getting ready for a muzzleloader mule deer hunt in NM the end of october.

I hear great things about the dead center bullets especially the sabot in sabot design. If I can recall it is a .357 bullet in a .50 cal sabot, correct? The BC of the smaller .357 is supposed to be far greater than that of a .44-.45 cal bullet commonly shot out of .50 cal MLs. Just note that they are a lead bullet and some states have regulations against their use.

Happy Hunting,
WTG

I use the locking hinge pin from EA Brown as well and it makes sense. I shoot the Hornady 250gr bullets with good results; EA Brown is a good company with lots of good info, take a look at their cleaning recommendations, I do it and it works incredibly well.

Yeah Ive tried their cleaning tips and agree they do work. As far as the locker pin, I tried it and after every shot my gun would lock up and couldnt be opened without taking it apart. I suspect something has been wrong for a couple years. Ive been getting more and more fouling around the breech as the years have past. Sent it back to T/C to have them look at it. No word yet. Having to hunt with my back up muzzleloader for now.

ROMEX2121 That Texan that got your tag also shot your deer. He's sure gonna taste good. HA! Just got home today, had a great hunt. No other hunters where we were at. Saw 25-30 deer and 6 bucks in 4 days. I think that was ok considering the full moon and hot weather. My deer was a 24" 8 pt. 170 yds.
