Hey, I just bought a new o/u shotgun. It came with 4 chokes,(M,F,IC,C) I'm new to this but 2 barrels and only 4 indivdual chokes. what's up with that?
Thanks,
G

Looks like it is meant to be a field gun; no two Skeet chokes included. The rest of the chokes give you the option of a bunch of different combinations such as: Mod and Full for long distance Pheasant hunting. IC and Mod for close pheasant or Quail. Or even Cyl and IC for close woodcock , quail or grouse shooting.
A double shines with the option of two different chokes and the option of 12 different combinations from your new gun is something to enjoy, so long as you don't overthink them...lol
By the way, the suggested placement of chokes in an O/U is with the first barrel fired to be the bottom and more open choke. The second (top) is normally tighter.
Enjoy that new shotgun!

I'm surprised to see a cylinder choke in there. I believe that the typical setup or what is included is generally skeet x 2, ic, mod, full. I'm sure that varies widely from mfg to mfg however, so who is to say what a typical setup really is. :) That has been my experience though.
After shooting my o/u with the traditional set up of the bottom barrel more open I changed to the open barrel up top and it seemed to improve my accuracy. You might go and play around with this set up to see how you like it. Have fun.

Thanks for the info. I'm off to the gun club.
