I like the idea of a dropaway rest without having to serve it into cables and strings. Has anyone had experience with any of these inertia based dropaway rests. I have shot a demo Mathews with one of these rests and thought it was a unique concept. However, do these rests drop consistently all of the time. Has reliability been an issue with any of these? I noticed that Montana Black Gold made the Mach 4 Trap Door rest. I have also noticed that the Trap Door/Mach 4 rests are on sale at most sporting good stores and on outfitters web sites like Cabelas. Is Free Fall a new brand or are they affiliated with Montana Black Gold and the Trap Door rests. Free Fall has a web site but I do not see any other models listed other than the Free Fall rest itself. These rests aren't cheap so I would like some opinions. The demo I shot also had a Dakota archery arrow holder that was attached to the Mach 4 rest. (Kinda neat little set up). Does anyone also know if that Dakota arrow holder will fit on the Free Fall rest? Help me out if you can answer some/any of these questions. Thanks.

I've been shooting the Mach 4 Trap Door for 2 years now and love the rest. Works flawlessly once you get it tuned to your bow (adjusting the sensitivity). The only complaint I have is that it's noisy on my Hoyt VTEC. It has an after shot buzz. So I use it for 3D shoots only. I called Montana Black Gold and they say they fixed the noise with the FreeFall. So if they did fix the noise problem I would buy one, if they fixed the noise problem.

I would recomend you go to your favorite archery shop and try one out. If it is quiet and you like it then make the purchase. A buddy and I were shooting a while back and he had this expensive sight he just bought. Well while we were shooting, I noticed the noise and he did too. Price isn't always better. Tried and trued is the way to go. Good luck.

Ok, I finally bought one and love it. It's quieter than the Trap Door Mach 4 but I had to put a piece of velcro on my shelf to stop the fall on my VTEC. It's a little pricey but it hasn't failed me.
