I have the .50 CalRemington 700 ML when they first came out. The bolt won't clear a low mounted scope and the scope I had on it busted with the recoil.

Any recommendations on high mounts and the scope to put with it?

I've had a Nikon Pro Staff 2-7x32 (shotgun) scope on my 50 cal ML for 3 or 4 seasons now and it's worked very well. About $129 at most retailers. If you want to spend a bit more, Leupold's VXI shotgun scopes available in 1-4x20 and 2-7x33 with heavy duplex, at around $200. from Cabela's, should be excellent choices as well. I'd suggest trying Warne rings on it, they are very secure and their medium height might be tall enough for your needs. Midway has good prices on Warnes and good specs available to help you figure the height you'll need.
Good Luck.

I have to agree with old pilot, on my shotgun and muzzleloader i have the nikon 2-7 by 32mm, the scope has worked great for me and my brothers and dad who all use this scope on their shotguns.

swfa.com nikon team primos 3x9x40 with bdc reticle for 199. This is supposed to be last year model of a monarch. To my eyes it is as clear as a vxlll for less than have the money.

i just bought a Nikon Prostaff to put on my Omega. Not as wide of angle view as I would have liked ,but it was the clearest scope in the store for the price.

Nikon scopes are all very good quality scopes. I put a 3X9 Nikon Omega BDC on my T/C Omega and love the setup. I especially like the 5" eye relief when using 150 grains of Triple 7 in the gun.....no magnum eyebrow!

Leupold scopes are overrated and overpriced. For higher end buy Zeiss

I have recently bought a couple scopes with Turrets. Cabelas has a centerfire & big game model. I have a bushnell elite and just love it. One day at the range and you will know all the ballistics you need to know. Then just range your target and a few clicks of the turret and bullseye. Makes you feel like a sniper...lol. Actually it works quite well with muzzleloaders because of their ballistic arc.

I have a loupy muzzloader scope on mine and it is afordable and I love it. I mount the scope as low as possible without touching the barrel.

Thanks. I figure the Nikon Omega Muzzleloading Riflescope with the BDC reticle is what I will get. I need to have a gunsmith do the ring deal as I don't want to mess that up.

Does Cabelas do that type of work?

I am pretty convinced that since this was a 1st generation Rem 700ML is will need high rings. Thus, I really need a good gunsmith to get it right the first time.

I will NOT get the Nikon. Check out the features of this scope that I was unaware of!!!

Leupold UltimateSlam™ Muzzleloader Riflescope

You can dial it in based on the load you use!!!! Not locked into one load as per Nikon!

Cabelas sells it!

I bought it!

I have the Remington 700 ML and I have the Leupold 3-9 Rifleman mounted with the Leupold QR(quick release)mount. This makes it a breeze to clean the gun without worrying about bumping the scope. Makes thorough cleaning easy also when the scope is removed. The QR mount will hold zero when it is removed and put back on. Great product.

Thanks! I'll have the gunsmith add that to the list.

I have the cheapest ML I have ever seen. It was from a Cabelas online only deal. The Windriver Magnum. I got it for $99.99 with the $30 starter kit. I did not expect much. I placed a 2-7 BSA air-rifle scope I had kicking around this year after Nebraska opened up the 1 power restriction on ML optics. It now shoots less than 1 1/2 in 3 shot groups at 100yds with 240gr XTP's (green sabot it opened up to 2 1/2 with the black mag sabots) with 100gr 777 pellets. I have experienced the biggest variable in my shooting is the consistency of my loading of the gun. I always use a mark on my ram-rod to assure uniform compaction.
