I will be getting a new bow for this year's season and have been looking at the new Browning Illusion. Although I have not shot it yet, it has some of the features that I have been looking for in a bow such as adj. draw length and adj. letoff. without the use of a bow press. I have tried some of the Mathews bows (Outback and Switchback), and thought they shot very well. I had a Hoyt that I just sold. It was in great shape but only had a 60# draw weight and I want something with a little more poundage. Has anyone shot this Browning yet? What did you think about speed, cam rollover, setup, comfort, quality, noise, and smoothness of shot. If I didn't have so many points built up on my Cabela's card, I would have already bought the Mathews. But, if I can get this Illusion at a cheaper price using my Cabela's card points and it shoots just as good, it seems like the obvious choice would be to go with the Browning.
Opinions are more than welcome. Thanks.

The browning illusion is a smooth, quiet bow. It does not seem like the speed is that good, but will suprise you when chronographed. I prefer last years model over the new model with the hyperlight pockets, but this one is lighter. It also has a nice grip, and the grip offers repeatability for shot consistency. And free arrows with this years model is a nice feature.

I own the new '06 Browning Illusion. I am from Maine, and I special ordered it through LL Bean. This bow shoots BETTER than the Mathews if you ask me. I tried all new '06 bows and this one shot the sweetest for me. The Hoyt Trikon rolls off a cliff, the only advantage to that is you can hold it back forever. The mathews is a great bow, but with all that harmonic junk on there, it still doesn't shoot any more quietly or vibration free than my Browning. Multiple sight mounting holes is a huge feature, along with no bow press needed adjustments to let off and draw length. Speed is great, I shoot at 28" draw length and I am still getting 275fps chrono with a 378 grain arrow (it comes with 12 free arrows, the pros too so they are straight and light .001 tollerances). It's the best bow Cabellas sells period. The only bow I liked better but couldn't afford was the Bowtech.

I finally got to shoot the Illusion this last weekend and I agree with Asigner. I shot the Browning and then the Hoyt Trykon. The Hoyt had such a huge valley before the cam rolled over. On the contrary, I couldn't believe how smooth the Illusion drew back. Although I truly believe the Hoyt will shoot a touch faster, I am more concerned with the smoothness of draw. I never cronographed the speed, but that is my impression. The Illusion was very easy to adjust to my draw length and I found the solid limbs to be very forgiving. Fully set up and by itself, I also thought the Hoyt was considerably heavier. I wasn't crazy about the grip on the Browning (two piece wood) but it is something that I could live with and is a mute point when comparing the two bows. I really appreciate the posts so far and the members opinions. I welcome more opinions if you have shot this bow. Browning...great job on this Illusion. I am looking forward to purchasing an '06 real soon.
