Hi forum,,,,high power rifle shooter/hunter who decided to buy a inline and extend my hunting season this year in michigan.
I purchased a TC Triumph/nikon omega scope/dednutz one piece mount.
Everything is coming together good and expect to take it to the range this weekend for the first time. I am just a little confused on cleaning/lubing of a black powder inline rifle.
I know i need to clean it after every shot or two (at the range),,,,,run a wet patch down the barrel, then dry, hot/soapy water if available, if not a commercial cleaner etc (tc # 13 bore cleaner)...at what point do i use the commercial "lubes". Also, when do you use "bore butter"? at the end of a shooting session, when the gun is cleaned as a barrel conditioner/rust preventer??
The lubes (ex: Thompson Centers blue lube, cant remember thier product #) They advertise as making the sabot load easier etc...you supposed to use this after every shot?
If my past experience has taught me anything, ill go out and fire 3 rounds (250 grn over 2 777 pellets) then clean and group another three which will probably be just fine. Then when i get home i will clean throughly the barrel and breech plug assembly....sound about right??thanks for any tips.

You don't need to lube sabots. I suppose you COULD if you wanted to, although I'd personally not, since you want them to seat firmly against the charge and not drift front again while hunting. Not likely, but why lube them and make it easier to have it happen?

Cleaning every three shots or so is about right. With that Triumph, you can pull the breech plug and do it from the breech, which would be advisable. I don't own a Triumph (yet, although I will in the next year or so), but reports coming in say that you should pop 'em open every 3-6 shots so the breech plugs don't get too tight. There is a tool that comes with it to open it if it does get seized up good, but if you clean every third shot or so, it sounds like it'll still be removable by hand.

The bore would benefit from treatment for long-term storage, but isn't always necessary. If you oil or lube the bore prior to storage, make sure you swab it out before firing the next time.

And unless the Triumph is different from the Omega in this regard, keep the breech plug threads greased.

Bore Butter don't touch my Inlines.I do use it to Lube patches on my Sidelocks, but after use I clean them good to where there is no Bore Butter in them.Plus T/C told me you do not want to use Bore Butter with Sabots.

About every 3 shot run a patch with your tc # 13 bore cleaner down it ,followed by dry patch. Some do this every shot and go as far as letting the barrel set couple minutes to cool.
