Anyone else seeing a bunch of doves lately? I see a dozen or so everytime I drive to or from work. There a few pairs that must have a nest in my neighbors trees because I hear them choooing all morning long. Can't wait until September and the bacon wrapped dove breasts on the grill :)

Hey Brent Im with you. What do you put in yours? I put mango slices, a slice of jalopeno chile and a slice of pineapple, sprinkeled with brown sugar!
I havent seen many doves, but on my way home today from work two pairs of green heads were cupped and landing in a rock quarry next to the freeway. It was a sight better than a whole flight of doves.
Come on september dove openner!

I only made it out dove hunting about 3 or 4 times last fall, so i have only tried bacon wraps so far. I have also put them together in a gravy mix in a crockpot. Have done this with ducks too, it taste alright. Hopefully I will be able to get out more this fall with less classes I have to take in the fall, so I can try a few different recipes.

the best way i've had dove is this way:
Ingredients:
filet the breast off the bone
bacon
lowry's teryaki marinade/injector
cream cheese
pickled jalepenos
tooth picks
vegetable oil
turkey frier
traditionally prepare the dove with above ingredients and stuff the bird using the bacon and tooth picks for support. then inject the birds with the teryaki. Let them marinade in the teryaki for about 45 minutes, while the turkey frier heats up. Dump the birds in when ready the oil is hot enough. when they float to the top, they are ready. Enjoy.
all i can say is wow. this works well with duck and goose nuggets. also you can do ducks, geese, and sand hill cranes.
On a side note, instead of frying turkey like we do for thanksgiving, try anything thing that flies. Use the teryaki for the injection juice or the cajun marinade work well. We did this last year for thanksgiving, using everything from turkey, cornish hens, pheasants, quail, ducks, and geese. Everything was excellent. give it a try.
When yote hunting a few weeks back a flock of about 60 or 70 flew in.
Deep fring them or quail works very well just don't over cook them.
