Owned one several years ago.... excellent shooter! Just a pain to clean. The bolt actually would get dirty and wouldn't slide freely. Had a misfire or two at the range when it got dirty because the spring wouldn't have enough strength to slide the dirty bolt!!

I have had similar problems with my Omega at the range, after several firings ,it gets dirty and the firing pin gets filled with crud and I start havin missfires.I have to put some powder solvent in there and clean it out then dry it.That only happens after several shots.I think I had the same thing happen to my CVA Kodiak before.

I had a black diamond and it would shoot just anything you put down the barrel. Like buckgitter said the downside to them is they are dirty but a few more minutes cleaning aint the end of the world. I used the #11 caps with mine and never had a misfire. One word of caution: after a half dozen shots or so I would turn the breech plug back and forth a bit. They have been known to seize up in the black diamonds. Are you planning on keeping all three of them?

I want one muzzleloader that I don't put a scope on and this will work for me.I have heard they are very accurate.I think i will use the musket cap and not the 209 ignition.I like the way the musket cap blows apart so you do not have to be digging out the spent 209 primer. i won't get a chance to shoot it for a week or so.

Let me know how it shoots for you. Are these guns new?

I bought a Black Diamond XR when they first came on the market several years ago. They will shoot with the best muzzle loaders out there, period! And as stated, they are a challenge to clean, but it is part of the process. Mine looks as though it just came out of the box, and it's had several hundred rounds ran through it, cleaning is the key as with all front loaders. I shoot many deer with mine, and I hunt hard, in some very nasty weather, my Black Diamond has never mis-fired. If I only shoot it once during a single day hunt, I tear it completely down and clean it, I've seen guys let their guns sit a couple days after shooting them, it's not a good practice! Your BD will last you a lifetime if you take care of it. BTW, I shoot 150 gr 777 pellets behind a 300 gr. Shockwave bullet (Yes it kicks) it's deadly to 250 yards, as long as you know the tragectory at all ranges.
As mentioned, the breech plug will seize, so use Gorilla grease or some other anti seize agent.
Enjoy your new BD

I shot the rifle today using 300 grain XTP sabots and 100 grains of 777 , got 2 inch groups at 50 yards
and 5 inch groups at 100 yards with open sights.Probably would do better if I used a scope ,but I want one rifle left with open sights. My eyes are not the best ,but I am happy with the groups.

I bought a TC Black Diamond a few years back,
A gentleman behind the counter also had one.
He turned me on to .44 cal hollow point 160 Grain,
With .50 cal. Wads made for .44 sabots.
At 50 yds shots are 2-3 inches high, at 200yds they are right on.
150 grains of powder, not pellets, seems to work better, without miss fires.
Love the gun,
But also agree with the rest of the guy's you really to keep them clean.
