I am really looking forward to trying the Hornady FPB Muzzleloading Bullet. I hope my Omega likes it so I don't have to use sabots any more. Here are some links. What do you think?

Here's a video: www.hornady.com/story.php?s=770

And a review: www.chuckhawks.com/hornady_FPB_bullets.htm

i think you'll need a hammer to get them down the bore.

That's the way it usually goes. They say just 25lbs pressure, but that is on a clean barrel I bet. A second shot is probably twice as hard.

I think I will stick with the 300gr SST Low Drag Sabots.

I do not have a problem with shooting Powerbelts and probably would not change. My Powerbelts work great on deer and my days of chasing elk is about done.

I have been using the SST's but I would like to try them. If they shoot well it would eliminate the sabot. I wonder what the price will be I can't belive it will any cheaper than the SST's

Where they are nice is in the hot summertime. Shooting sabots in the summertime is an event in frustration as the barrel heat allows the sabot to get soft and "slip" in the rifling. This leads to inconsistent accuracy. I used to shoot ground hogs in the summer time with my ML as long range practice when I lived in Virginia.

I would like to try them in my Savage smokeless ML. The .458" bullets shoot great in my .45 caliber barrel without a sabot. In fact, it may be what I use for my elk trip since I drew a ML tag.

I ordered a couple packs and will post my results when they get here.
I have a 100yds marked off and a shooting bench out in the field.
I sure hope I can get away from the sabots without sacrificing accuracy.
