My son wants me to deer hunt with him next season in Washington. They have restrictions on muzzleloader hunts like NO 209 PRIMERS! Do they make a percussion breech plug to fit an Omega? I have scanned the internet and see a Thompson universal breech plugs you can thread a nipple into but wonder about the length and threads. Kits usually upgrade and not the opposite direction. Anybody heard of such an animal?

I don't tink they make one and do not see how it could work in an omega.

That's what I was thinking. Looks like another gun in my future. Any suggestions on a percussion in-line or traditional stainless muzzleloader. I see Thompson has a stainless flintlock. Are they reliable? I have never shot one.

You can buy some of the older Knight rifles on Gunbrokers for arround a $100 that has percusion ignition.I have owned several of these and just sold my last one a week ago. They shoot good.

That's a great idea. When I was looking for my last muzzleloader it came down to my laminated thumbhole omega and a knight long range hunter. I know knights have excellent barrels. I'll start looking around. Thanks

The other kicker to be aware of is the ignition system (percussion cap) must be "exposed to the elements".

I thought I could skate by on that one because the Omega has a small hole that vents into the trigger assembley. If you carried your Omega upside down the elements could reach the primer. I might have to show the judge in court...lol

I just went and bought a Knight Bighorn in stainless steel and the thumbhole synthetic stock. It will shoot all the ignition types (209, #11, & Musket Caps). It meets all the requirements for Western States muzzleloader laws.

Thanks for the input!
