I started hunting back in the 70's with a Thompson Seneca 45, then I had a Thompson Hawken 50, then it was a stainless TC Thunderhawk, then a stainless Remington, then a Stainless Traditions, then a Ruger 77M, and finally a Thompson Omega....whew. The Omega is hands down the best muzzleloader I have ever shot! I use a Hornady 300gr SST/120gr of Triple 7 FFF powder/winchester 777 primer. I chronographed it at 2043fps. It shoots 1.25" 3-shot groups at 100yds. I sight it about 2 1/2" high @ 100.
Yards 20 40 60 80 100 120 140 160 180 200 220 240
Bullet 0 1.2 2.1 2.6 2.6 2.2 1.2 -.3 -2.3 -4.9 -8.3 -12.3
As you can see it give straight at shooting to 200 yards
Oh what was the question? I have never shot a CVA Kodiak...lol

Seeing how my state limits me to conicals, i would take the cva/laminated thumb hole stock and SS barrel. cva has them under the bargan den @ only $277.

Estate we are helping the widow has a Kosiac Express in 50 caliber dbl barrel appears unfired. Cabelas has them for $930.00 What do you think they would offer, or trade for something more saleable like an AR-15?

I prefer the CVA. You may like both. Others may like the omega.

I do believe that my Omega is the most accurate shooter that I have ever owned,I have several muzzy's and the all shoot good with the proper load, but the Omega is not fussy,it seems t shoot anything good.
I used to use Knight rifles and wood say they were very accurate ,but the Omega shoots just as good as my Knights and it cleans up a whole lot faster.
