Playing around with a new flinter at the range and took a video to check the lock time since it seemed to be firing pretty fast. Video is a tad off center.

It says I need a pass-word to view the video.
I would like to see it as, I have a Tradtions PA Pellet rifle and it seems to have a vary long lock time.
It's the only flintlock I'v fired though.

Somewhere along the line I delinked it . Looks like I've got it up and running again, at least on my end.
FWIW,
Slow ignition on flintlocks is usually the result of not using real BP (or a BP booster charge if you have to use the subs), a dull flint/poor sparking lock or improper touch hole location.
High speed photography has shown a good lock should fire the pan in anywhere from .04-.06 seconds. If you're getting a perceptible delay then something needs adjusting.

Good video, thanks for fixing it.
Yours pistol seems alot faster then my rifle.
Your right, my rifle dose need tuning.
I can't get the flint knapping right so I go through alot of new ones. lol
On the range sometimes I need to try several times to get the flash pan to light.
While hunting she's been good to me though, fired 5 for 5 last season.

Are you priming with real BP? The subs do not ignite well in the pan.
What flints? I prefer the black english flints, but your mileage may vary. Sometimes changing from bevel up to bevel down will improve sparking.

I have not been able to find real b.p. anywhere up hear in sask.
I was told by a couple of gun shop oweners that thay need a special permit to carry it witch is why nobody has any.
Thanks for the info I'll take a look at the other site.
