45 ammo

i have a question... can you use 45 ACP+P ammo in regular springfield XD pistol, and is there a big difference between this and regular 45 ACP ammo?

I have shot +p out of my 9mm sub-compact XD. Shoots real well.

Though I have not shot any +p ammo out of my XD 45.

It won't hurt to shoot +P out of the XD45 but it is pretty cost prohibitive to do so. If one were to feed the XD a continuous supply of +P ammo it would probably be a good idea to replace the recoil spring with one of a higher rate. I've shot a few hundred rounds of various +P ammo out of mine over time but again, not as a steady diet and it has been over the life of more than one spring. I don't see the need for them as standard pressure defensive rounds open up well enough as it is and the higher velocity makes for more recoil and somewhat harder handling.
