Performance programmers

I'm thinking of buying a performance programmer for my 05 chevy,5.3. Looking at Hypertech. I was wondering if the performance gains were worth the money (pulling power, fuel mileage, ect.)

I have no experience with the 5.3 programmers, but I own a Duramax with one and I've driven a couple 6,0s with them. The gas engines won't get as much of a gain from a programmer as a diesel. However, you can still get some good useable power. Compared to other ways of adding power on a gas engine, a programmer is probably the most "worth it".
