2008 Regulation Amendment Process Schedule

Proposed Regulation Amendment
4 VAC 15-90-80. Game: Deer. Muzzleloading gun hunting.
Summary
The proposal is to remove the requirement that the ignition system of muzzleloading guns used for hunting deer be only of the flintlock or percussion type, thereby allowing all types of ignition systems to be used on muzzleloading guns, including but not limited to flintlock, percussion, and electronic ignition systems.

Key dates in this regulation amendment process are:

January 22, 2008. "Regulation Proposal" Board meeting. Staff presents its Proposal-Stage Recommendations. The Board solicits and receives public comments, then deliberates and proposes regulations or regulation amendments.
January 31, 2008. The Proposed Regulations Public Comment Period opens. See public participation methods below.
March 13, 2008. The Proposed Regulations Public Comment Period for 4VAC15-90 and 4VAC15-270 closes.
March 16, 2008. The Proposed Regulatiosn Public Comment Period for 4VAC15-410 closes.
April 1, 2008. "Final Action" Board meeting. Staff presents its Final Recommendations. The Board solicits and hears public comments on the Proposed Regulations and staff's Final Recommendations. The Board deliberates and adopts final regulations or regulation amendments to take effect July 1, 2008 or other date as determined by the Board.
