I like Federal loads with the Flite Control wads. These pattern the best of anything I've tried. They're the same price as any other company's shells unless you get into the Heavyweight shot loads.

My second choice would be Winchester Supreme if the Flite Controls aren't available.

yep

you can also try win remmy fiochi

i suggest the 5 round boxes and then do the pattern work then you can get a few shells other then checking the patteren each year they will last a while.

mtswampfox,

One thing I chould have mentioned but forgot. If you're gonna use the Flite Controls be sure your choke has a solid end (no holes or slots) or is a flush fit. The cut outs will grab the little fins and break the wad which causes the pattern to be somewhere other than centered. Tried this for myself to find out. Barrel porting is OK though.

As for your question about 6's, they're what I prefer. I like to have as many pellets as possible in my shells. I used a Browning BPS, an Angle Port turkey tube and some 3" copperplated 6's to kill a bird about 55-60 yds. two years ago.

Good Luck

Ron

I perfer the heaver than lead loads that federal, winchester, and remington load. Number 5 shot has worked the best out to say 50 yards for both good patterns and power enough to brake vertibra's so they don't get back up and fly away. Number 6 shot may work if you don't shot over 45 yards or 35 yards for lead #6.

Remember its patterm and power one without the other is useless.

I have some heavy weight #6 flight control in 3 inch 12ga, But have not patterned them yet hopeing for a solid 50 yard pattern. Their the heaviest of all so I hope the #6 will work. I have rolled a few at 35 yards with 2oz #6 lead only to watch them fly away, #5 & #4 lead have good power levels.
