Which of the 209 primers do you use and why?

Lately I've been using T7 primers...they do the job consistently. I don't like the Kleanbores as well, and they're more expensive. Regular Win209s and RemSTS have worked for me as well.

Yep,I do not like the Kleanbore either,Can't see anything clean about them, they are dirtier than Winchester 209's.i cannot tell the difference between the 777 primers and Win 209,just wanted to see what other shooters think.

I've got both the T/C Encore and an Omega. They are notorious for a crud
ring in the bullet seating area when you use 777 powder. I have tried Rem
Kleanbore, Win 777's, along with regular 209's from Rem/ Fed/Win that I use
in shotgun reloading. I must be a real sucker for slick advertising because based
on the claims, I tried the kit sold by Cabela's where you insert a small rifle primer
to a 209 housing. Even that failed to end the ring. I liked the accuracy of the 777
pellets but in frustration, I changed to American Pioneer (Shockey Gold FFFG)
and now no ring. I chose the FFFG because weighing the pellet squares, they weren't
consistent in grains.

I too have tried the Pioneer Powder,it is clean ,but I don't seem to get the velocity out of it like the 777 powder.I swab between every shot and the crud ring people talk about is no problem.
I still use FFF Pioneer Powder in my T/C Renegade with round ball.

Winchester 209. I used to use cci for my centerfires. however i had way to many ftf. So i switched to winchester. Ever since i changed i do not have the ftf problem. So its winchester everything at least for primers. i also use a lot of winchester for powder both for shotguns and rifle.

I havent found one yet that changed where my gun shoots. They all go bang. The crud I have in the primer pocket(correct term?) I think is blow back combustion. I have messed around with primers (ouch) the primer itself dosent generate that much crap. I do shoot a VERY inexpensive inline though. $99.00 with the starter kit from cabelas. 2.5 inch groups at 75 yds with a 1 power scope good enough for me.

Just bought some new Winchester primors for my muzzleloader,209's,man they have really come up in price. The last ones I bought for $2.89 per 100,I just paid $5.69 yesterday!

I first tried TC fusion primers in my Triumph..........Had some caps that didnt go off......Some would go off, some wouldnt!I picked up some Remington Kleanbores the same day & never had another misfire!
Anyway.....they do seem alot cleaner too.Dont know if I just got a bad box of Tc fusion or what, but didnt want to take a chance with them again!

i agree with you DblLung i tried 4 brands win.cci.fed T7 and they went bang, bang, bang, bang.these all fired well and i couldnt see a difference in them in preformance or one being cleaner shooting than the other.
