Do any of you know where I can get info on hunting whitetails in the west. I live in Washington State and on the west side of the Cascade Mountains. I travel to the east side every year for deer season and hunt whitetails and mulies in the same erea. I am wondering if the same tactics that they use in the east would work this far west. I am planning on getting a tree stand and trying that out. The big difference is that there is not alot of food plots over there to hunt over. The cover is thick and loud. And the elevation is high, about 4500-5500ft. Any ideas? thanks.
Hey I'm from Eastern Wash. Walla Walla to be exact, and there's allot of big whitetail bucks. The best thing to do here is hunt the thick creek bottoms, and close to alfalfa and pea or garbonzo fields. Find a heavily used trail and if you can get a chance come a few days early and watch some spots in the late evening and you'll be surprised what you'll find, anytime you can sit still on a heavily used trail will give you good odd's of bagging a nice buck. Lastly, talk the landowners they've usually got the best insight.

Thanks Paul. I usually hunt in the north central part of the state near republic. I grew up near Colfax and Central Ferry. I don't know any of the land owners over there anymore. It has been 25 years since I lived on that side.
Like I said I hunt up north now and the eeleavation is around 4500 Ft. I was looking for some tatics for that area. The landowners in the vally plant alfalfa most years but didn't last year. Hunting was tough. What kinda cover do they look for in that part of the state.
I have never taken a white tail and want that to be the next deer. I would like it to be a buck but would likely settle for a doe. Thanks for the info.
