Does anyone know a good resource to locate chefs/cooks that want to live seasonally in the great outdoors and be a chef in the main lodge? It would be greatly appreciated. My husband and I manage a lodge in Maine and finding a resource for chef keeps coming to a dead end.

There is a lot more involved here than "whupping up some grub". Remember this is a remote camp, and planning is essential. If you run out of something, there is no quick run to the store. There are also three squares a day to fix, not to mention hunters coming in late. You won't get away with telling them they missed dinner. There may or may not be a hot water heater, an essential item taken for granted most of the time. Think also of an LP gas refrigerator, with limited space. Will you be boiling drinking water?
Most of the time these opportunities involve little time for sitting around telling hunting and fishing stories. I've been to some nice places, and talked to other hunters who have been to nice places, and conversation always comes around to food. Cooks that can be successful in these remote camps usually have the mental capacity to be successful in other places where the pay is better and the work not as hard. Cooks who can do "magic" in these remote camps will usually tell you their secret ingredient is hard work.
