mb1959,
I couldn't tell you about the 1895 but I have the 1895G which I had wildwest guns out of Anchorage Ak. modify into what they call the wildwest 457 which is stretched out a tad to except more powder. It increases the velocity a little. It is a real thumper and loaded with the right bullet is great in bushey country where there are bears. The one I have is not the stainless and is also ported. If i had it to do over I would get the non ported as it is loud. And the stainless as I live in rain country here in southeast Alaska. I have shot about 10 deer with it so far but hav started using it more for bear protection while fishing and use other's for hunting to save what little hearing I have left. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, this does help, any feedback is always positive. I'm curious about the work from Wildwest- did they replace the ejector with their one piece Bear Proof solid steel ejector? and if so how does the rifle function with the change? Thanks again
