I shoot an 05 Martin Jaguar set at 60# with a drawl length of 29 inches. I am wondering if there is any advantage to shooting with a string loop. I am fairly new to bowhunting. I want to make sure that I am shooting the best of my ability as to not wound an animal. Any suggestions?

Bubba , I think the main reason for a string loop is to keep your release from wearing on your bow string, and to keep your release from putting pressure on the arrow nock. it will shorten your draw length a little too. I don't use one. to me it is just one more thing to go wrong. on my string I have two metal nock sets above my arrow and I have one rubber cushion under my arrow. I put my release under the rubber cushion. that is the way the archery shop that I bought my bow from set me up. I do see a little wear on my string serving, but since I have been keeping more string wax there it doesn't seem to be getting any worse, and I shoot a fair amount, about an hour at a time 4 or 5 times a week in nice weather .the rubber cushion I'm talking about is what I had on my recurve bow years ago, so I didn't need to use a glove or tab if I remember right I had two above and three or four below.an archery shop will know what your talking about if you decide to buy some. the archery shop I bought from had them and thats the way they like to set up there bows. hope I helped Jim

The string loops helps keep the arrow on the string, does not pinch off at full draw or let down. Helps reduce serving wear, and helps to prevent torque on the string.
It will add about an inch to your draw. If you are shooting a 30" draw length and add a string loop, it usually adds the inch and you will have a 31" draw, so you will need to shorten your draw length or choose a release like the Tru ball short and sweet.

A loop is the best thing since pockets on pants. I didn't use one when I started shooting 9 years ago. I started about 5 years ago and I really like it. It does add a little to your draw length, but this can be corrected with an adjustable release or changing the draw length of the bow. The arrow nock will stay tight on the string and when released, the string remains flat in the nock giving an even push. I suggest you try it and if you like one, keep it. If not, it is easy to remove at home.

A string loop should be essential equipment on any new bow with a shooter planning on using a release. If you're not going to use a string loop, then I suggest you look at a number of other products on the market like the Ultra-Nok XL that build the nock point and loop together. It keeps you from binding the string with your release.
