Ok, I have never used binos hunting, ever. I hired a new guy at my job that is ex army. He has a set of Steiner 7x50 military/marine binos that are military issue and in great shape with all the covers in tact and the rangefinder reticle and the "anti laser" coating, ect. it is stamped on the outside 8907 and M22. They are super sharp and he wants 100 bucks for them. Anybody got any info on these or if this is a good deal. If I do buy them might keep might sell.

Andrew,
You have no idea how good your post made me feel, knowing I wasn't the only guy out there without binos.
Thanks,
Gary

Man you got a deal!!
As far as the laser proof coating, I'm not exactly sure of the details, but i wonder if it isn't a coating to prevent injury if someone were to shine a laser while looking through the binocs.
I belive those do have the range rinder reticle, you will need to do some checking on how to use it. I think you will really like those binos. Let us know how they work out for you.

All my life I have only had low grade cheap optics (scopes) and looking through these bino's it is crystal clear, there is a rangefinder on the lens and instructions in english and german on the eyepiece cover. I looked up on ebay similar units that are selling for several hundred bucks. Kinda heavy though. Per the guy that I bought them off the laser proof coating is to deflect a laser and the honeycomb inserts on the lens are there to prevent reflection.

Well, to follow up on this, the binos were way too heavy for taking hunting escp. in the mountains around here, I sold them on eBay for $520. Not a bad profit. Will use that money to upgrade my new 45/70.
