what brand and bullet weight do you guys recommend for whitetails?
I would have to say 150 or 165 Im not sure what weights they have for the 7mm, but I shoot a 130gr from my 270win and it really puts the hurt to em. I think for deer I would stay under the 200 mark.

I would recommend a 150 grain controled expansion bullet such as the Remington Core-Lokt. Two things you must consider. One is your rifle will select the bullet by favoring a tight group. Try several controled expansion bullets and use the one with the best group. #Two is to avoid the rapid and delayed expansion bullets on deer. I also like to avoid the short bullets because I beleive that the longer bullets have more contact with the barrel and will provide a more stable (accurate) flight. The 150 grain is long enough to do this and will knock a deer on its ever loving behind. That same bullet will take bull elk up to 300 yards too.
I've used the Core-lokt in several different calibers and for whatever reason they have been accurate in everything that I have shot them through. They have taken plenty of game for me so I always recommend them. They work as advertised and if they group well, then you have your answer. The Hornady Interlock is also an excellent round so if your rifle prefers Hornady then feed it a steady diet of whatever it likes. As of late I have had trouble with Winchester ammo and several people that I have talked to at the range have too so I no longer recommend it. As far as yardage goes you and your rifle are the limit. That 7 mm mag. of yours is effective well past the ability of most to shoot. Good luck...............................chs

139-grain Hornady Innerbonds work splendid.
I have also done very well with 150-grain Ballistic Silvertips

Any standard bullet from 139-154gr will do the job. I like 140gr Partitions, but cheaper 150gr BTSP are another bullet I like.

Theoretically, it should be the Hornady 139gr Interlock. Shoots fast and flat, and the light bullet should be perfect for whitetails. Unfortunately, one of my 7 Mags doesn't much like it. It groups about 4" at 200. The same rifle groups 160 Nosler Partition factory loads into about half that, so that's what I'll use if that's the rifle I use.

i like the 140 partition or balistic tip. my rifle likes them well. 150 is the biggest i go pp or fusion, mines a wsm so if i go over 150 i get into hevy bullets 160 partition accubond tsx xp3 ect...
i like the balistic tip for longer ranges and the partiotion for in close since it tands to hold together at high velocity. and use the 150's when i'm short on cash.
unfortently i cant find the 140 partion on the shelf anymore. so it's the balistic (silver)tip for me. even fusions are disapearing. i relly liked them rifle did to not the best group but very huntable nothing a deer would notice.

yep I would just use what shoots best. Pretty much ANY loading in a 7mm mag will take a whitetail. I mean it's even a little overkill for whitetail, but hey shoot what you like, sounds like you can shoot it well so more power to ya!
But as far as bullet design I wouldn't be too worried about it because almost anything other than your ballistic tips at close range will be fine. We need to remember that people take bear, elk and moose with 7mm mags... A deer doesn't stand a chance, especially if you are shooting it that well!

I've been told - and so I'm passing it along - to be careful with BTs with muzzle velocities more than 3000 fps for shorter ranges. I dont own a 7 mag and havent seen ballistics on it, but I'd be willing to bet that a premium 140 gr bullet - like at BT spitzer - comes roaring out of a std factory 7 mag a lot faster than that).
Unless I'm reading other posts in this thread wrong, I don't know how people carry 3 different bullets. I guess it's possible, but that's a lot of zeroing at the range and a lot of numbers to carry in your head. Maybe I just ain't as smarts as the average bear.
If you're hunts are mainly long range, go with the BTs. If it's generally much shorter, I'd think you'd be just dandy with std Core-lokt, Power-Shok, etc. If you're doing both, the Barnes TSX comes highly recommended.

Nobody I know carries three different bullets in the field, People just try different bullets and therefore have experience with some different bullets.

I carry for the terrain i hunt. if i'm hunting the field i'll grab the BT's out of the truck. in the woods i'll grab the partitions, in the mix wooded field i'll grab the powerpoints or fusions when i find them.
I'll carry all three in thruck but never in the field.

would you guys say that the bonded plastic tips (like the Accubonds) come close to being one of the top all around bullets? Makes sense to me. High BCs for long range hunting, and bonded to ensure bullet integrity (avoiding fragmentation/blow-ups) for close range hunting.

yes- i like the bonded bullets. just finished loading a couple boxes of those 139gr interbonds tonight for the 7mmMag. I am getting about 3285-3315fps with a max load of rl22- should be plenty fast enough to outrun deer.
