View Full Version : Proper Fish Shipping
I have looked many places to find the answer to this question, but I am still searching... Help! I will be fishing for Tuna in Puerto Vallarta in September and hope to have a few to take back with me, but I am nervous about how to get the fish back properly. I was thinking of investing in a vacuum sealer, package the steaks, and then FedEx the meat back to the States on Dry Ice, but was unsure of how to go about doing this, and if this was needed, or the best way. If any of you have run into this before, please send some advice. Thanks!!!

eric- have you been down there fishing before? I think you are over thinking it, many of them down there are well versed in doing exactly what you are talking about and will help you get it packed up or at least show you the closest wal-mart where you can get the supplies you need. Depending on where your staying, your hotel may allow you to keep it in their freezer so you can bring it back on the plane with you in a cooler... Don't forget that down in Mexico its not looked upon to highly if you keep more than you can eat and definitely don't try to sell it!! Down there its pretty common for the crew to keep leftovers as part of their wages as well.... If I were you I'd talk to the outfit you are going to go with now about what your options are....
Thanks COelkhunter. I will contact my guide for more advice. I appreciate the comments about the culture too. Since I have not been there yet, I am nieve as to what to expect.
