I realize that this topic has been brought up before but now I have to ask some questions.

I won a Browning A-Bolt in 325 WSM at a recent wildlife dinner. I have never used the three different bullets that Winchester is using for the 325 WSM. They are;

1.) 200gr Accubond CT

2.) 180gr Ballistic Silver Tip

3.) 220gr Super X Powerpoint

Can any of you give me your experiences with these bullets and give me a comparison to the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw and the Fail Safe with regards to penetration?

Thank you,

Grayling

Congradulations!!

All the rounds for this caliber have a use. Shoot all of them and see how you make out. The 180 BST is the most accurate of the bunch out of my A-bolt. The whitetail I shot this fall did not notice the penetration untill he fell down (about thirty feet from where he was standing) leaving a gaping whole on his port side.

Just wondering if you got the one with the Ivory stock? http://forums.cabelas.com/showthread.php?t=411

Please excuse my question as I was not specific enough which may have cause some confusion.

Can any of you give me your experiences with these bullets and give me a comparison to the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw and the Fail Safe with regards to penetration?

I am looking for those that have shot these bullets into large sized animals such as Elk, Moose, and Alaskan Grizzlies or Browns.

I am not asking questions regarding the ballistic validity of the .325 WSM but the on game performance for large North American Big Game, specifically with the three bullets I mentioned. I would expect this caliber no matter what bullet to meet all eye-popping expectations when used for whitetail or other thin skinned animals.

Sorry to those that replied already. My apologies.

DC Lewis, I didn't understand your comment regarding the ivory handle. I will have to go back to the thread you included to get some background.

I am not sold on the WSM's and I generally use a 300 Win Mag or a 338 Win Mag for hunting trips outside my state. But since I was lucky enough to win this rifle I was thinking of trying it out.

Good luck,

Grayling

If you want, you can alway give the rifle to me.

Pleeeaaaase...

I'll be your friend.

I know a guy who posts here and he just killed a nice Rosevelt elk with a .300 WSM using the Trophy bonded Bearclaw bullet. I'll get him to reply.

Congrats on winning a great rifle in a great caliber.
I used the 220 grain power points this fall on a moose hunt. The moose I shot at a ranged 254 yards dropped from one shot through the chest. The bullet penetrated completely leaving a somewhate bigger hole on the other side going out. There was snow on the ground and I saw where the bullet went into the snow about 5 feet beyond the moose because I could see the blood around the hole in the snow.
My Winchester Coyote Lite shoots three shot groups with the 220's into less than an inch at 100 yards off the bench and into about an inch at 250.
I just bought some of the Accubonds and will be ordering the TSX shortly. I have read great things about the accubonds and TSX and have used Barnes X bullets for my bear, moose and caribou hunting almost exclusively with great success.
I'll post more on what I find on terminal performance of these bullets when I use the Accubonds for bear this spring.
By the way, the 220's were factory loads.
Good Luck and Good Hunting with the new gun.

Thought I'd add one more thing since I read your last post. When I bought my 325 I put away my 300WM. The WSM is a great round and I'll tell you a very accurate one. It is also a great gun for the bigger game and my particular gun kicks less than my 300 and weights about the same.
I am several of the guys I shoot with are believers.
Hope that and the last post answer some of your questions.

grayling,

I used the .325 WSM with the 200gr Accubond CT on a recent elk hunt and was pleased with the performance. I had a 300-yard quartering toward shot. The bullet broke the leg on the front-side and found just under the hide on the off-side while skinning. So, we are talking about 20-inch penetration with great weight retention. Personally, I prefer the Accubond CT bullet over the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw.

I hope this information helps.
