Hi everyone!
What would be the best scope up to 100 bucks for a springer of 1100fps?
Is RWS brand any good?
Thanks
Welcome to the forum.
A cheap scope just won't hold up on an airgun. It's not the recoil, it's the vibration that just eats the scope alive.
I have an older RWS 45 air rifle. I really like it, it's been good to me. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another RWS brand anything, provided there was some kind of great warantee. My sense of common screams that $100 bucks is just too cheap for an airgun scope.
There are advancements in manufacturing being made every day. Perhaps RWS has figured something out the other guys may be working on. RWS is an old line company that has been around for a long time.
Still, cheap scopes can be a burner, here's how it works:
A manufacturer will build a cheap product that might last 3 to 5 years. They will put a lifetime warrantee on it, and people will buy it figuring they can't go wrong. After 2 or 3 years of production, the manufacturer will come out with a "New Model" cheap scope, and discontinue the original model. After a while, the old model cheapies fail, and people write in wanting to get that old scope fixed or replaced under warrantee. The manufacturer says,"We're extremely sorry, but that model is no longer in production, and there are no parts for it. We do have our "New Model" that we will sell you for $50.00, because you are a valuable customer to us".
What do you do? If you would have spent $150 up front, perhaps you wouldn't be screwing around now. By buying the "New Model" cheapie you are locking yourself into spending another $50.00 later on, if they will even warantee the new scope.
I'll bet this is much more than you wanted to know. LOL

At one time BSA had some of the best air gun scopes on the market but that was quite a while back. I have a Diana 45 (or is theirs a 35) which is a renamed RWS and it has been wearing a BSA for nearly 30 years. Prior to that it wore a Leupold as they repaired any breakage for free. That lasted until Leupold figured out why all these scopes were coming back and then did not repair them for free as we were using the scopes outside their design parameters. I have not been impressed with the current BSA scopes for powder burners which I hope has not bled into the air gun side. A fixed power scope designed for air rifle use is your best bet as a fixed power has considerably fewer moving parts and is lighter which both contribute to longevity, all things being equal. There are also scope bases and mounts that are supposed to attenuate the reverse recoil of air guns making the use of standard scopes possible. I have not tried them, nor do I know of anyone off hand that has either. It is a possibility to check though.
