I have a 375rum on layaway and I was just wondering if anybody has any experience with this cartridge.

I bought a 375 RUM for the sole purpose of just trying it out, and I am glad I did! What a powerful, versatile, and accurate rifle. The cartridge, for your information, is now being loaded by Nosler Bullet Company, under the sole direction of their custom ammunition shop. It offers a 260 grain/partition and is rated, and I mean rated, for animals the size of deer through moose. The last comment was just to illustrate the versatility this cartridge has to offer. It is for certain, a one gun proposition. You will not regret it! Have fun.

It kicks like a mule, ammo is expensive as all get out unless you hand load compared to well established cartridges ($45 - $50 for a box of 20 plus shipping from Cabela's and here locally up to $75 a box), and the ammo is not standard fare in most stores. If those aren't issues for you, have fun with it and shoot as often as you can so you get good with it.
All in all it is an awsome round if you can handle it well.
Good Hunting

As far as ammo goes that shouldn't be a problem. I hand load my owne ammo. Thankfully since the ammo for the 375 rum is so expensive I would have to refinance my house just to go target practicing. I am gonna use it for alaska hunting for caribou and moose. Mostly just want something big incase of bear problems. Thinking that I will use 270 gr barnes TSX bullets. I don't want to use 300 grainers since I don't want to blow up my caribou.
