I was wondering if anyone new what the legal minimum rifle caliber was for saskatchewan canada, and if so would the 7mm-08 be a big enough caliber with the sieera 150 grain bullet?
Thanks for any replies
Try www.se.gov.sk.ca/fishwild/ That's the Sask. Gov. site, it'll have links to the regs.
In Alberta it's minimum .23 caliber, .243 or .270 are prob. the most common deer calibers around here, we ourselves use 87 grain in the .243, and usually 110 grain in the .270, although this year my son loaded 150 gr. in the .270 and it worked well for him. (he got a mule and a whitetail buck, neither took more than one step, shot the mule from just over 250 yds high in the chest, shot the whitetail from just under 150 yds in the neck) Sure your rifle and planned load will be great. Unless you're in the bush, fast and flat's the name of the game, and whitetail don't usually stand still.
Have fun, there's some monster deer there, that's where guys from here go if they want a huge rack.
