I have a Marlin .35 lever action that was passed down to me form my Dad. The gun's over 50 years old and has taken many a deer. My Dad took care of it and it's in darn near out-of-the-box condition. What makes it special to me is that my Dad carried it when he was a young man. Although I have only a young daughter, I hope to pass it on to her if she's interested or a grandchild if not. To me, there's something special about a gun that's shared between generations. Great post!

Pre war, pre 64 22 hornet model 70. Original lyman 48 peep. My great uncle bought it brand new in 1941. I still shoot it regularly. It is my go to gun for groundhogs here in Ohio. Of all the 400+ firearms in his collection, this was the only one I couldn' t live without. I am proud as heck to be the owner today.

An 1894 winchester takedown deluxe in 30 wcf. 26 inch octagon barrel, fancy wood, and beatiful checkering. I bought it years ago and have shot alot of deer with it. I still hunt with it once or twice a year. I think this rifle is John Brownings best design.

It's a tough choice but I have to say Marlin 1895 Guide Gun in 45-70.

Mine is a .300 Win Mag Browning A-Bolt with the BOSS feature. I've taken hogs, pronghorn, deer, caribou, elk, black bear, a moose, and almost took a coastal grizzly with it once. I have so much trust in it that every time I pull the trigger on game, I expect it to go down. So far I haven't been disappointed.

Mine is a Remington Mohawk in 308, topped with a Nikon monarch 2-7 that was given to me by my dad about ten years ago, he had been killing deer with it for 20 years, and now I've been killing deer with it for another 10 years, it's still in great shape and someday I'll hand it down to my kids. It's nothing fancy but its just a great rifle.

I would have to say my favorite gun is my 270 winchester made by rossiusa. its a break action matched pair( it came with a changeable barrel from 270 to a 20 gauge) This is my first real gun that i have owned (got it about 6 months ago. Have not been able to go hunting for deer with it but iam sher it will work well). I dont know but i actually like breaks better than bolt not sure why tho?

My favrote is not any center fire or rim fire pistol or rifle, it's an old crossman co2 .22 cal rifle that my parents gave me around 40 years ago for xmas. I still remember the surprise I had when I open the package. It still sits in my gun cabinet with my others firearms, its condition is like brand new.

mcarso;

Good call on the Christmas gun gifts. My folks gave me a Sheridan and my brother a Crossman 760 pellet/BB guns once. We lived in the woods and took down a lot of small stuff with those guns. Pulled many a BB out of my skin during our "one-pump" gun wars. Good times!

Mine is my 870. My wife (girlfriend at the time) gave it to me on my 18th birthday. I'll be 54 soon and I've put a lot of miles on carrying that shotgun around. Grabbed a lot of great memories along the way.

Neat thread,
