Unfortunately I am a smoker who uses tree stands to try and defeat my scent. I never smoke in the woods, take a shower with scent control products just prior to my hunt. Use the X-static long johns, scent cover and everything else I can think of. I dress at the hunting location. Can anyone offer any suggustions other than to "quit smoking" to help me see deer. I live in one of the most productive whitetail locations in the East and have yet to see a deer for the past 4 weeks. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hate to say this, but have you thought about your breath? Most smokers I know aren't even conscience that they have a bad-breath problem. Use a good mouth wash and then rinse your mouth with baking soda water. It'll taste terrible, but deer are just like good looking women, bad breathe and they bolt.
Also might try some of the new odor eliminators like White Lightning. You may think you're being careful, but you're most likely missing something else too.
I'd avoid a Scentlok suit unti you quit smoking. While you can keep it in a plastic bag, it's bound to absorb some scent and the more it absorbs before you get to your stand, the less it'll absorb in your stand.
Best of luck and good hunting.

What about a piece of the nicorette gum instead of smoking while hunting? Dead down wind also makes breath spray to neutralize breath odor. But smoking while wearing scent lok or using scent control defeats the purpose.

dougf-
I used to smoke and wasn't beyond burning one on a stand and still killed a bunch of deer before I gave it up, smoking that is. I'm not so sure that deer can associate cigarettes with humans, but one could argue that I might have killed even more deer without a smoke trail.
Unless you sit on your stand with your mouth open, panting into the wind, I'm betting that what you need to do is find another location. Deer have to be in the area to smell smoke. If you're not seeing any deer, even does, you might be just in the wrong place at the wrong time of the season.

U might think about keeping all your gear stored properly and hanging your stand a few feet higher, if your comfortable with it.
