I recently bought a Marlin 1895g and would like to put a scope on it, I shoot pretty good groupings at 50yds with the iron sights but i am much more comfotable using scopes. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also does anyone use the forward mount Marlin offers or standard scope mounts.

New member was just going through the old threads, when I saw yours ?, I have a forward mount on my 1895G in 45-70, also have XO sights. I just placed a cabelas pine ridge multi red dot 26mm scope on it, was very impressed with the scope, I hunt in an area of PA where 100 yard shot are very uncommon., gun is my walk around and bear gun. I had a Bushnell Multi Red Dot, but the 45-70 just detroyed it, The Cabelas Pine Ridge is very well made compared with the Bushnell's and is holding up very well, with hot loads Highly recommend this scope if you hunting situation is like mine.

I just put a Williams Foolproof rear peep and a Williams Fire Sight bead front sight on my 1895G. The Rear sight attaches with the two rear scope mount screws. It is quick to pick up, low profile and looks good too. I have the same set up on a 44 Mag Guide Gun.

In my opingion, it should be illegal to scope a lever action. It just ain't right!
