I have been out of hunting for a couple of years, and I am looking to get back into hunting again. I have had the itch to go deer hunting, but wasn't able to make it this week. I am going to load up the Remington 870 and head out for extra two days of gun season in ohio.

I am also looking at getting into muzzleloading for the extended season/range. I was wondering if anyone out ther has any thoughts on the remington genesis? It looks like a solid muzzleloader from everything I have read.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What do you want to know about? The torch cam can get hard to open if you dont clean it after a number of shots. Just rub a wet patch on it and it is as good as new. The accuracy is good out of the box. I bought a stainless with black synthetic for 299. I have a winchester apex with optics on it that I sometimes use during our regular gun season. I actually bought the Remington for muzzleloader season not intending to put a scope on it. With that flip up cam, I'm not sure if that would interfere with different scope mounts or not. I used to have an Omega (blued barrel) and I could not stop the thing from rusting. I cleaned it religiously and it would still rust in my safe. I think the sights on the Remington are decent to good for stock sights (I hated the Omegas sights). Play around with your loads a little. I've tried shockwaves and powerbelts with Pyrodex and 777. I personally have had good luck with accuracy with all three of my smokepoles. The remington also has a cross bolt safety and a thumb spur for left or right handed cocking of the hammer which is a nice little plus. Let me know if you have specific questions that I can answer. Good Luck!
