What are our guys using over there?
What shotguns/accessories are successful?
What is issued?
What is preferred by the troops?
What is modified by the troops either with aftermarket accessories or homemade field modifications?
Suggestions for new improvements not on the market?

I don't know what they are using in Iraq to be honest. I've got buddies in the Navy and they use two different shotguns. The vast majority are Remington 870's but they were seeing some of the Benelli tactical models coming in too. I know quite a few law enforcment agencies are getting into the Benelli's. You can go to their websie and check them out.

Most tactical shotguns I've seen have a flashlight and ghost ring sights. They tend to have extended magazines too.

I don't know if it is the same now, but in the past, each branch of the military would negotiate their own weapons contracts. I'm sure they all use a little bit of each brand...

One thing about shotguns versus other firearms. Shotguns operate more or less the same. One pump will generally work the same as a pump from another brand. Same for semi-autos.

Shotguns manufactureres all generally have pumps and autos designed around the same 12 ga. round.

Other arms are a bit different. Rifles, handguns, machineguns, subbmachineguns vary from manufaturer to manufacturer. They are even chambered for different rounds.

Generally shotguns are a bit more interchangeable than other types of firearms.
