Has anybody used the Buckhammer slug yet? Their balistic tables are eye popping. If you haven't used them what sabot slug have you used with great success. Please let me know.
Thanks,

It all depends on what you are hunting. The buckhammer looks like a great penetrator but not a fantastic expander. Other slugs like the Horandy SST and Lightfield are better expanders. I have used the Corelock Ultra which like the SST is a muzzleloading bullet in a sabot. This Sept in Ontario I hit a black bear at a poor angle. It nicked the shoulder and travelled through the intestines exiting. The bullet did it job as I found several sections of intestine on the trail. Finally caught up with it and finished it off. Can't fault the Ultra as it did its job.
On deer I woud go to the a greater expander, but then again, a deer is not that hard to kill. If you like the Buckhammer, you can get a $5 rebate by going to www. buckhammerchallenge.com.

Grayling,
I use a Winchester Partition Gold. I have a Browning B-80 Shotgun with a Hastings rifled barrel. I get a tight pattern, it shoots flat, and it does only drop 10 inches at 200 yards (I didn't believe the ballistics until I took it to the range and saw the results for myself). The longest shot I have taken was 125 yards. The deer went down and did not get up. I have taken a nine pointer, an eight pointers, a seven pointer, a six pointer, a five pointer and a couple does. I have only lost one deer and that was hunter error and not a problem with the slug. The furthest I have had to track a deer was 50 yards.
