Have any of you guys hunted any small game with a slug. I might buy a slug barrel for my shotgun and when I am 16 I can hunt big game with it. or should I just buy a rifle.

welll i wouldnt use slugs for small game espescially if you are keeping the pelts cuz the slugs will tear hem apart so i would buy a rifle. I would get a 270. that way u can use it for big game and you can use it for small game

I agree, kindof. I'd go with a .270 but id get it in the wsm version. I know ammo is more expensive, and not a ton of selection. However there is a bullet type for everything that you need to do, within the capabilities of the rifle. If someone gave you the option of a Ford Mustang GT or a Mustang Cobra what would you take?

Don;t use a slug for small game. One time my dad got peed on by a squirrel while he was hunting deer with a 12 ga. slug, so he shot it and there wasn't much left of it.

I can remember getting my first slug barrel for my shotgun. Smooth bore and rifle sights. It did not shoot slugs as well as my modified barrel but did it shoot #6 shot for rabbits. Short barrel and plenty of pattern. I have given that barrel to my nephew for now but he is acting like I may be getting it back soon. Maybe this year I will . . . (Remember, this was a smooth bore barrel, not a rifled barrel.) Flatcoat
