Does anyone have any experience with the CVA Buckhorn?

CVA's used to get slagged a lot for some problems they had with the breech plugs in the mid-ninties. I picked up an Eclispe model which is almost identical to the Buckhorn and can tell you it was and still is a fun to shoot gun. I found it to be pretty accurate as long as it was within the range it was designed for.
My only concerns were the plastic plug that holds the spring for the bolt would strip easily and have to be replaced.
For the money, I feel CVA's are great ML's and wouldn't hesitate to hunt with one. Sure you can spend the big bucks and go all out, but...

Thanks Yooper. I have a CVA Hawken that I built from a kit many years ago. It is a 48 twist and shoots patch and ball very well. Perhaps they aren't top of the line but, we don't all drive Linclons and Cadilacs either.

Kestrel,
I use a CVA Buckhorn as my back-up gun. Last year I used it to shoot a doe at 125 yards. She ran about 30 yards and dropped. The bullet went where it was supposed to go.
I like the gun and as I said, it is my back-up. I shoot a CVA Hunterbolt and love it. I had to send it in for repair and I was extremely satisfied with the service I received. I would buy another CVA in a heartbeat.
By the way, I use Powerbelt bullets and I love them. I get a nice, tight pattern and I can seat them without a hammer. I tried other sabots and I can't get them down the barrel without using undue force.

I know exactly what you mean about the plastic plug...
Here's what I did.
I went to a local hardware store with the plug and bought a matching metal bolt. I ground down the bolt enough to hold it well enough but not put too much pressure on the spring. Much better than the plastic original.
