Last weekend my 12 yaer old grandson Raymond passed his hunters saftey course and after 8 hrs. of schooling him on saftey we were on our way to the nearest sportinggoods store to get his hunting license.

I called a friend of mine who runs a private hunt club and asked if he could squeeze us in for a hunt of chukar. He called me back and said they were booked, but under the circumstances he would get us in. I told my grandson and you could of seen his smile from the next county.

I decided to let him do all the hunting and I worked Boomer. oh what a treat it is to see your oldest grandson carry on the tradition of his grandpa. I was so proud and he ended up gettind 5 and missing 3.

Do any of you have any first time stories about passing it on? I'll never forget my third generation hunting first and hope Im around for the 4th generation!

I've bought each of my children a shotgun, sometime before they were big enough, or old enough to shoot it. I gave my grandaughter (now 3), a .22 LR called the lil chipmonk (I think) for her first birthday. I hope to enjoy teaching her to shoot, and eventually hunt if she chooses to. The opportunity will always be there for her.

I remember hunting with my dad and one of his buddies, when I was about 10. We were going dove hunting in Mississippi, and my dad's friend had this fancy Browning shotgun, and I had a single shot .20 guage from Sears, that my older brother and I had to share as a christmas present. My father was so proud that his 10 year old son shot and killed more doves (like 5 to 1) then his buddy with the fancy autoloader. Dad is 80 now, and still tells that story, laughing till he crys. Pretty cool memory.

Congrats to Raymond and Grandpa. That's what it is all about.

Safe hunting,

Kyle
