I have two of the silver back hang on's and one climber. I have had great success with both kinds. They are well built, go on the tree relatively easy and quiet. I would recommend them to anyone.

Is the stand a climber or hang on? I own 4 Summit climbers and they are fantastic. No pins or parts to remove to put it on the tree. I noticed that Gorilla's have a pin you remove. You then have to line up the holes in the frame and put the pin back in. Drop that pin in the snow in the dark and I'll bet you invent a few new words not to mention the need for a flashlight. I like the fact that I can adjust the angle while climing a tree that gets smaller as I go. The price is about the same for both. Compare the two and see what you think.

I have a gorilla hang on with the mesh sling style seat. Nice stand except that the sling style seat doesn't go back far enough against the tree. There is a gap there and in between that gap is the piece of the stand that rests against the tree. That piece is slightly raised so when you lean back against the tree, you have two pieces of metal poking you. If you move ahead on the seat and then lean back, your lower back isn't supported. I end up rolling up my jacket or camo vest and put it behind my lower back which is a pain. However, I like the idea of having a mesh seat that raises that also will not be soaking wet from rain or chewed up by critters when you leave it up for a season like I do.

I have two portable Gorilla treestands , i love them. They are light and super easy to set up. They are not over-priced in my opinion. Have you ever tried climbing sticks??? If you do you -will never go back to screw in pegs, plus the climbing sticks don't kill the tree. Lone wolf makes a killer set of climbing sticks. They were twice the price of my rivers edge portable climbing stick, but well worth it. I use both though.
