I need to clean house a bit and I have come down to getting rid of my Python or my S&W K 17-6. Yet what are they really worth these days? I have seen Pythons for 1100 and up on sites and I have seen K 17-6 for 700. Does anyone have any idea what a real world price I should ask for these is?

Sir;
I'd get rid of the "python" - they're not that much of a revolver and are worth more - I don't know what the gun would sell for.

The pythons I've seen used are starting off at about $700 and heading up to a few $K (condition and version dependant, of course). Don't see a lot S&W 17s but from what I've seen online, 400-750 condition dependant. Kinda hard to tell what a fair price would be. The glaring question to me is why would you feel compelled to be rid of one of em?

Well the Python is about 98% with just a small line on the cylinder starting to show. It has a 4" barrel and high nickle finish with rubbber grips. The 17-6 is even nicer about 99% with deep blue finish 8 3/8ths barrel and the finger groove grips. I replaced the Python with a Dan Wesson with an 8 inch barrel and it is much more accurate and that is what I was looking for. I have 4 22lr pistols and the S&W is used the least so that is why I am looking to get rid of it. I need to raise money for some bills that came up from my daughter being sick, and to put some money in the bank for future gun related items.

Pythons are at a peak price now and S&W handguns are still climing. A 98% python with the box should bring around $1400.00 on the open market. while the S&W might bring $700.00-$850.00. SAA have crashed and I see the python as starting to level out. Now is a selling time. I thing S&W have gone up so much in the past 2 years becouse Colts are out of control. Seel the Colt and Keep the Smith.
