I received my traditions kentucky yesterday. I was wondering if I use pyrodex will a no. 11 cap set off a full charge of pyrodex? Also I'm trying to work up a hunting load and wondered how much pyrodex I should use?

Of course it will. What kind of projectile (round ball or conical) do you plan on using. What's the twist of the barrel?

I plan on shooting prb. The rate of twist on the barrel is 1-66 so it's ideal for prb.

Is a PRB a round ball? 1/66 is a pretty slow twist. I'd look at using the ball, a buffalo ball-ett or possibly a maxi-hunter. Of course, it's your gun and experimenting with a load is half the fun.

prb is patched round ball. I don't plan on ever using a bullet in that gun because they are just too expensive and not very traditional.

In mine I sarted at 60Gr. and worked my way up to 80Gr. gets a very good group and I feel I get a good burn on my powder.

I am shooting a .490 ball with a .015 patch. I think I'll start out at 70 then work up from there so I don't waste too much powder.
