My son is looking to put duals on his 99 1500 chevy. He is looking for some sound but not to loud. Any of you guys have any advise on which mufflers to use?

A buddy of mine used the two chamber flowmasters and eventually went to the three chambered version because the sound was too much for him. That was an older Chevy, but a similar issue. I'd go with a size larger than recommended if you use the flowmaster.

I just put exhaust om 99 chev 1500. I went with dual 3 inch pipes from the cats back exits the rear at 45 degree angles. It stays pretty quiet if you dont get on it. Good low rumble at cruising apeed about 1800 rpm. It does get pretty loud around 2500 rpm though.

Flowmaster turned out behind the wheels with Stainless tips....looks and sounds great!I agree. My 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 sounded really good. Had an aftermarket Flowmaster with a low rumble at idle. Step on it and it had a great growl. The weirdest thing was that it was a single exhaust. Must of been the fact I've got the 6.0L in it versus the 5.3L.

Haven't done anything to my 06 2500HD yet but its got the 6.0L too. Kind of like it as is since its easier to sneak around the elk woods without spooking the critters an hour before you get there. lol

Definately flowmaster.

I put dual glasspacks on my dads 97 f150 v8 triton. Man she is loud. Im going to put flowmasters on my duster. Dont want it too loud but louder than it already is.
