I still own and hunt with my first 22 my father gave me 44 years ago,a Stevens Meteor single shot bolt action. Together we have taken our share of tree rats.
Whats your favorite squirrel gun?

Rooster52, I like my old Marlin 22LR bolt action but due to safety concerns I usually use a 12ga shotgun earlier in the season which is right now. Today we were able to get a squirrel by using - dog! Yes, some fox squirrel was stupid enough to get into the yard with seven dogs. Flatcoat

20g winchester 1200, 10/22 or savage MKII 22 work for me :)

my fav. is my old glenfield 22LR single bolt iwould use my 270 or bazooka like ole markmazuch but i like the tasty little fellers myself
I don't own a good squirrel gun anymore, I'd like to buy me a 22 of some sort and will some day, I guess if I do go I'll use my 12 ga. with very light loads and eat around the pellets. Unlike "markmazuch" I like to eat 'em.

Come on now guys, I just shot one. It would get really expensive shootin em with my .270 wsm. I like a Ruger 10/22, 20 gauge, or the .17 hmr is fun too. I onle shot that on with my wsm, just couldnt resist.

Our season opens this Friday and I am starting the season with my 410 sideXside then going to my .22 later on when leaves start to fall. I sure love that fried fox squirrel ,some of the best game meat there is.If I could just find someone that likes to skin them as much as I like to hunt them .

Markmazuch, next time instead of shooting it, bark it! I have only tried and succeded at this once - with a deer slug! Pretty much just busted his head. We have been in season since 15 August. Love to eat them. Son cannot figure out why they don't serve it at school. He loves them with dumplings. Flatcoat

I think the word is vapor. We have all been tempted by these little critters. I used to use my 22 but your are right, the .17hmr is a blast to hunt with. We tried them on groundhogs but they are a little short on ability.

Markzumuch, I keep my slug gun aimed in at 25 yards dead on and that is where the squirrel was going over a fallen log. Surprised the heck out of me that it worked. (Dead on at 25 yds = 2 inches high at 50 = dead on at 75 yards = 2 inches low at 100 yards. We won't talk how fast it drops after that!) Flatcoat

Marlin 22LR. It is great for that precise shot. Very little ruined meat and cheap to shoot.

I have used a Winchester Model 63 for the last 10 years, but switched to a 17 Mach 2 this year, it allows me to make shots in the 75-100 yds range and it handles the wind much better plus its a great red fox gun as well. Kimber Pro Varmint rifle, Hornady ammo. Cheers,

My 1st gun, a marlin 25M in .22mag is perfect, but I loaned that out for a youngster to use- So now i use the savage 24f . 22hornet on top and 12ga on bottom. if ya miss em sitting you can get em on the run-
We should be making a day of it here shortly, now that deer season is over. Anyone else ever have them harass you while trying to deer hunt? I thought I had seen everything they had to throw at me until this year. Just as the sunlight begain to filter through the treetops- it started as a couple of drips and then turned to a steady stream from above and until that point had never given a thought to- do squirrels pee from the trees or do they come down to the ground?

I use my gamo air rifle with pba ammo, and scope. I get 1200(fps) with this combo and they just kinda fall out of the tree. Very minimal meat damage!
