I have to say that my first dove hunting experience was a blast. However, I was very disappointed to see all of the empty shells and boxes laying around the public hunting grounds. Granted, I don't expect everyone to get on their hands and knees to find every spent shell. I've read a lot of posts lately about how many people's land is being developed and good hunting land is being turned into housing projects or whatever. Just a friendly reminder to try and keep things clean and garbage picked up. I spent a half an hour walking around picking up shells and boxes. It doesn't take much time or effort to throw them in a bag and pitch em after your done hunting. Don't mean to preach, just want to keep the land in the best possible shape so we continue to have places to hunt and fish. Have a great and safe season everyone!

I like your points, too many people shoot 45 rounds in an afternoon at doves and only manage to pick up 5 spent shells.

Point well made. If more of us were responsible, and cleaned up after ourselves, we'd probably get alot more invites too. I'd add ciggarette butts to the list too, because as a non-smoker, I hate to find them on the ground after a shoot. Put them in your pocket, please.

Put them in your pocket, please.

After they are extinguished of course :) "Only you can prevent......hunting blind fires..........." ")

Although that would be kinda funny.....

If everybody would leave the woods with one more peice of trash than they brought in they would stay beautiful. Now try to get everybody to do that. I've been trying for years. At least I can teach my kids to.

Nothing makes me madder than to see trash laying everywhere. It seems like everytime I put a chain on or ladder stand up somewhere, somebody else will hunt it at least once during the season without my permission. We have a problem with people sneaking in from other properties to hunt. Without fail they'll leave drink bottles or food wrappers laying all around it. I end up packing out their trash and mine.

That's pretty low to do something like that. For one thing they go on your property without your permission. Next, they decide to use your stand. And finally, they have the nerve to leave garbage around.

The biggest problem with public land is they let the public use it.

The best you can do is try and pick it up faster than the slobs can lay it down.

Amen to all of that. Please add lakes to the list. Floating trash is annoying also. So is sinking trash..although I've witnessed smallmouths spawning on a case's worth of beer cans I still don't think of it as structure.Plus, I'd like to catch the guy who tears off 3/4 of the line on his reel and leaves it in the water in one big ball to catch 15 lbs of weeds and sticks before I get snagged on it. Anyone care to guess where that line would need to be surgically removed from?
