Cow Muzzle Loader GMU 26 or 231

I drew a Cow muzzleloader tag this year. I had kind of been looking at GMU 26 near Harper Resivior. I'm from Iowa and won't be able to scout the area prior to hunting. Does anyone have information on the elk in the area or possible other locations. Any info would be appreciated.tyrrellkit@gmail.com

Might be able to point you in the right direction. I've been all over those units, especially 231. Be forewarned in advance that you'll have lots of company; even though the ML tag is a draw, the units you've suggested do get alot of pressure. Have a couple of ideas that I think just might work. Considering you're after cows, you should be in a lot better shape.

I was never impressed with unit 26,just never saw any elk there.Unit 231 over the years has done us good ,but the last 2 years I have not seen any elk during the first rifle season.We see lots of sign,but no elk.We think the pressure from archery hunters push the elk furthur back in.Muzzleloader season should be better.I plan on hunting muzzy season next year,but will be there for first rifle season again this year.
