I know I am in the minority on this one but heres how I look at it......Find yourself a Chevy or Ford truck in good shape with a few years on it and put as much balls to it as you would like.
It is really simple math.....
new truck...$30,000 or more
insurance will also be through the roof
2000 Chevy Z71 6-8000.00
new 350 ci engine and install 3000.00
flowmaster exhaust 400.00
new tranny 2500.00
awesome stereo 1500.00
_______________________
total 12,900.00
30,000.00
12,900.00
__________
17,100.00 difference and you dont have 6-800/month payments
Also assuming you dont need all the extras such as engine tranny etc.....youve got 8 grand in it and all the proverbial balls you could need.......
Also not sure where you are from but if you would like I will help you find such a truck if you would like.....One of my good friends is a GM of a large car dealership here......Dwayne

Heres my 19 year old beauty.........I wouldnt hesitate to hop in her and drive to California........also insurance on her is a whopping 550.00/yr lol..........
Like your truck hart...You can not beat a Chevy for gas mileage and power combo..and long lasting period..I agree, buy one a few years older and save huge bucks..You can find 'em if you are patient..Check Craigs list too..

I personally am a Chevy man. I own a 04 with flowmaster dual exhaust, K&N high flow intake, and a Hypertech programmer and its performed flawlessly. It even gets 16 mph towing my 3000lb popup camper at 75mph. I have also heard great things about the new Dodges although with them you get really bad gas mileage.

If youre gonna buy a new truck and a budget ain't the issue, buy the new Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. OMG that thing is SWEET!
What's the mileage on your Ford..I get 20 -22 on highway with a long bed 350 Chevy

Did not know there was another type of truck worth driving! My 93 Toy is more reliable than my 06 DC but it's still nice to haul yarn in!!

F-150 2004, good year and model, We bought it b/c it has more leg room in back seat than Chevy and Dodge. That Tundra is nice but its all plastic, from what I've seen. But it is HUGE, lots of room compared to other trucks. On trip from Missouri to California we got 25 mpg the whole way @ 73 mph in our Ford. quiet inside, lots of cool features, like 10 cup holders, just a good all around truck. But thats just my opinion.

Vitols0065;
Now is a good time to buy a big truck as the economy and gas prices have made them less desirable. Don’t be fooled by all the hype out there as each brand is just as good as the others. If you buy a new truck and take care of if with routine maintenance it will last you a long time. The decision comes down to what you like and what you can afford.
I’ve driven and owned Ford, Chevy, Toyota, and Dodge. Right now, for my money, I like the quality truck Dodge has on the market.

Man, H2O Dog, I'll argue against the new Dodge being quality. I own a 2006, and I've had a host of stupid problems, all related to overall quality. I've got 46k on it, and I've had a new rearend installed, a new ignition switch, and now I've got to go under the dash and fix the fan/doors on the AC so it will blow air into the cab again. Four friends have these (2005-07 models), and all five of us have had the AC problem, as well as other problems. It has been a miserable experience for all five of us.
If I were buying a new truck right now, it's either the F150, F250, or Tundra. No question about it.

Get a diesel; it will have all the balls needed, and can haul your buddies balls when they're whining

I’m not saying your wrong I just haven’t had any such problems. Hopefully, my luck will continue. I’ve also owned Ford’s and Toyota and they’re good trucks as well.
What’s gets me is when folks preach, “buy American”, but fail to realize that many American vehicles are made in Canada and Mexico. If you’re pushing to support the American worker, then buy a vehicle that’s made by American workers. I’ll get off my stump now!

I hear you on knowing where things are built when you preach "Buy American" H2O Dog. There's a Toyota plant right here in Huntsville, where all the iForce V8's were made for many years. The plant is undergoing a refit right now, to the best of my knowledge, to prepare for the next generation of some motor Toyota is going to build. In close proximity to my home is that Toyota plant, a VW plant being built in Chattanooga, a Nissan plant in TN, Honda in Lincoln, AL, Mercedes southwest of Birmingham, and Hyundai (sp?) south of Montgomery. Interestingly, a Delphi plant in Decatur just had to be closed due to economic issues. Those folks got the shaft, and yet the so called foreign makers are paying excellent wages, working as much as they can in many cases, and putting plenty of good folks from this country to work daily. That's supporting the American worker as far as I can see.

I saw that posted on the wall of a little dive BBQ joint one day while I was working out of town. Couldn't resist writing it down. Checked the legitimacy before I started using it much, apparently The Duke really said it. He was a great man, for sure.

I bought a 08 Avalanche last year. The truck is pretty nice. It has a very smooth ride and comes with running boards, tonneau cover (hard 3-piece), and hitch as standard features. Right now, I average about 15.5mpg combined. Strictly highway, I get 20-21 depending on the terrain. They were making Z-71s which had a starting price of around $38,000 but you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a crew cab truck that can double as a long bed truck, you should take a look at the Avalanche.
Happy Hunting,
