Me and a couple buddies are discussing going on a guided hunt for Mule Deer. This is going to be a "TRIP OF A LIFE TIME" and while we would love to say money is not an object it is 7000 or less.
What I'm looking for is names of outfitters that you have heard about. We do not really care where it is. It would be nice to be able to buy landowner tags but we do not have aproblem applying. We are interested in Canada as well
Thanks guys,
Mike

Over the years we have taken some real nice muley bucks just for a tresspass fee on private property in Colorado and Wyoming.Sure good hunting will cost you a few hundered dollars ,but that is far less than the cost of a guided hunt.

I have heard that the Elkhorn Outfitters out of Craig Colorado do a good job. While fueling up on my last trip to colorado I spotted 8 hooves sticking up out of the bed of a truck the next island over. In talking to those guys they were returning from a hunting trip there and all of them had mule deer. The spreads in their party of 5 hunters ranged from 24 to 28". Maybe not the largest ever but a place to start. You can google them.
I've never hunted there, only met two guys that did who were extremely happy.

Here in saskatchewan we have some awesome mule deer hunting opportunities but i'm not sure in a non resident can hunt them here. Last year 4 of us got drawn for mule deer 3 of us ended up shooting one. They scored 190, 170 and 155 the 190 was the 5th biggest in the province. check out the provincial website www.enviroment.gov.sk.ca Hope this helps

If I had a $7,000.00 dollar budget and wanted to know for sure that I would hunt the year I wanted to (no hoping to get draw) I would hunt either Colorado or Utah. Colorado has a ranching for wildlife program and Utah has CWMU (Co-opertive wildlife management unit) program. Basicly the state gives the outfitter x amount of tags and lets the outfitter set his own hunt dates (like during the rut or early season when the bucks are still in velvet) in return the rancher has to let x amount of tags go to public drawings. At least thats how Utah works and I'm pretty sure thats how Colorado does it. If you go to the their web sites they have a list of ranches that are in those programs.

If you go to the their web sites they have a list of ranches that are in those programs.Only downside to this is, that the ranches can get extremely expensive. One RFW property in NW CO charges well over $10,000 for a high success hunt for rag horn bulls. Big mulies, or decent ones, just as much if not more.
If a guy truly wants a "Once in a lifetime" mulie hunt, he ought to save that $7000 and add to it and hunt Sonora, Mexico.
If he might want to hunt a few times in the quest for a "Once in a lifetime" mulie, I'd say the eastern plains of CO, parts of WY or MT should be his goal.
Just my humble opinion.

Talk to Bill Perkins or his dad Ray of Miles City, Montana...that's in the SE corner of the state...book a mulie hunt with him and buy a non resident outfitter sponsored tag...and he'll show you 50 bucks in a day over 22" ...be selective and you will each kill a 26-28" buck. They have some great whitetail hunting as well.
I've hunted with Ray & Bill a couple times...good people, lots of big bucks on private land...and the all in price will be less than your top end cap of $7k.

I have never gone but Albeta, Canada is a great mule deer area. I am 90% sure that saskatchewan residents are the only people that can hunt mule deer in saskatchewan. I cant and I am Canadian.????

I live in Utah and though I hate the thought of "guided" hunts on my home range, I'll get some of the numerous outfitters that are my friends to give me their sites and forward them to you. This truly is the prettiest place in the world, and you should come out just to be here, let alone hunt here.
