I normally fish at lakes or river parts of the lake. You can't hardly fish any ponds, even though by Arkansas law you have that right if the pond is stocked by AF&G. I perfer fishing in smaller lakes that don't allow jet skis or skiing or tubing.I don't own a boat so places are limited where I go.For cat fishing,I go to the Arkansas river about 60 miles away. It's also one of my favorite campsites. How about you all?

We go after flatheads mostly. Ever since I've been married I haven't fished for channels.Back before then I was using mostly liver for bait. Now it's cut shad,or if I go after the big boys, whole shad. There's a place in Oklahoma I go often is Ft.Gibson,we al fish on the dam wall. There's a wall along the river part of the dam,we take our surf rods and fish for either cats or white bass. For the big boys(flatheads) we fish at the Arkansas river or at Three rivers, where the Arkansas,Canadian, and Verdigree all come together.

I hear ya bro! I'd go now,but I like a little stability in the weather. If you ever make it out towards N. E. Oklahoma or N.W.Arkansas,let me know in advance.I get both licences.Of course,$42.00 is not a bad price tag to pay for yearly non-licence.I wish I could go to Colo.,but don't have resources to do so.I'd love to fish in mountain streams once.

Not sure what BOC means.Anyway,a funny story.Five years ago I went to Rapid City,SD.It was a family trip,we took two cars to visit my father in laws uncle. My mother in law had this plan to visit the mountains in Colo.,Yellowstone Park, and the grand Canyon, all within a weeks time.I mapped it out on the net,and it was a 5,000 round trip.So on the way back home,we drove down the eastern part of Colo.so she could say she been there.Needless to say we didn't make that long trip!

Well,I do go a lot, does that count? My sister in law and nephew go snagging for spoonbills or paddlefish. While those fish are impressive, that's way to much work for me.You ever snag for spoons?

I just use a rod and reel.I have used a trot line in the past with some friends, but I just like to match wits with the fish.My parents lived next to a guy who trotlined a lot,in fact, that's all he did.I've seen him in the paper with a 96 lb flathead. I got to witness a 70 lb one he took out of his boat.As for snagging trout,I wouldn't dare do it here. They would confinscate your equipment, car, etc.I found out it's important to know the fish and game laws wherever you hunt or fish.

96 lber !!!! holy smokes now that's a flatty there !!!!!! even the 70 lber ....... the snaging yea they post every where on the canal ,local newspaper and all the only reason they allow it is because the fish are just going to die , this canal i'm talk'n about they just turned it back on like a week ago so you can't snag nomore til' like November this yr .

We called the 96 lber a "Cindy".The thing was as big as my sister in law Cindy. We don't catch them that big on rod and reel. My FIL's uncle caught one 42 lbs. That's still big fighting one on rod and reel. Usally we catch them between 15-20 lbs. That's about the right size for eating, tastier too.

I've never had good luck with channel cats, maybe 2,3 lbs at the most.Where I go,flatheads rule the roost. One of my neighbors where I used to live caught a 20 lber. Here we are talking cats on a panfish thread! Nice looking fish, btw.I never noodled. I lived in Michigan and Arizona. After living in Az. for 8 years I forgot what fishing was like. After seeing snakes and beavers in water I decided no way was I sticking my arm in a hole I couldn't see.

Sometimes high country lakes in a float tube, but most of the time in creeks and small western rivers
